The city of Bellingham in the state of Washington is one of one the best-kept secrets in the US. Located just 90 miles (145 km) north of Seattle, WA and 55 miles (88 km) south of Vancouver, British Columbia, it is the largest city of Whatcom County. Bellingham has an urban feel yet is located next to amazing national parks and over 100 miles of beautiful shorelines.  The city is an amazing place for outdoor activities, from multi-use trails to museums to islands, the options are infinite and must be explored.

1. Galbraith Mountain Bike Park


Anyone visiting the city has to see the Galbraith Mountain for Mountain Biking. Over 50 miles groomed trails, from simple and smooth to the other extreme allows bikers to choose their option. Whether you are new to mountain biking or can handle difficult terrain this is a must do when in the city. Biking enthusiasts from all over the state visit make this a recommended destination.

2. Boulevard Park


Boulevard Park is the perfect option to enjoy calm and serene views whilst in the city . The park features some of the best views Bellingham Bay and provides great walking and biking trails along the shore. The Woods Coffee located in the middle of the park is a great pit-stop for coffee and snacks. If you are looking forward to enjoy some alone time then this place is a must visit. The public BBQ pits and sandy beaches also make it a favorable option for family picnics.

3. Whatcom Falls Park


Whatcom Falls Park is a 240 acre city park located on the east side of Bellingham. With plenty of open space to explore, the park has 4 waterfalls created by the Whatcom Creek that surrounds the entire area. The park also has several basketball courts, picnic areas and covered shelters making it a great place to visit in the spring and summer.

4. Mount Baker Theatre


Mount Baker Theatre is ideal for those wanting to explore the creative side of the city. The theatre occupies half a city block in downtown Bellingham and has three different venues that host national & local performances. Named the heart of modern & contemporary art, it features some of the best talent and offers a wide range of entertainment options ranging from musicals, magic shows to instrumentalists.

5. Lake Padden Park


Lake Padden Park is the most popular recreational site of the city. Dozens of hiking trails weave in and out, giving visitors the chance to see majestic sunsets and unforgettable views of the lake. Whether it’s the beautiful forest area or the patchy ground, everything about the park sparks happiness. The best time to visit the park is summer and fall seasons as the natural colors of the leaves and trees are an unforgettable sight.

6. MT Baker Ski Area


MT Baker Ski Are is located with a dramatic backdrop and impressive slopes making it a great place to practice snow-sports. The Ski area located east of downtown Bellingham receives 600 inches of snowfall every year. The area also has great hiking and walking trails with picturesque landscapes.
